I P hanno fatto il loro debutto dal vivo il 17 marzo 1993 all’ Austin Music Awards tenutosi al Palmer Auditorium.
La band era formata da:
* Gibby Haynes – voce solista; solista alla chitarra nel brano ” Michael Stipe”
* Johnny Depp – basso, chitarra
* Bill Carter – chitarra, basso
* Sal Jenco – batteria
Durante l’esibizione, durata 20 minuti, vennero suonati i brani: Mumble (suonato sul classico Link Wray classic Rumble), brani originali dei P, Mr. Officer, Michael Stipe e White Man Sings The Blues, e una cover della Jim Carroll Band , People Who Died. L’esibizione fu trasmessa dalla una tv locale.

La musicista, cantante e chitarrista di Alice Cooper ha postato sul suo profilo facebook e su Instagram le foto della band con Johnny.

The 20 minute set consisted of Mumble (a play on the Link Wray classic Rumble), P originals Mr. Officer, Michael Stipe and White Man Sings The Blues, and a cover of the Jim Carroll Band song, People Who Died. The set was broadcast on local television. (See the Live On Stage section for photos and video downloads). According to Ken Lieck of the Austin Chronicle, P was asked several times to return to Austin for another gig, but unfortunately, they never got the chance.

Here is an interview that The Kids gave to Dana Elder of The Scarlet Bugle in late 1981 shortly after Johnny joined (though probably more than the 4 months that Beano estimated, based on the timing of other events). Johnny was a member of The Kids from late 1980 until their breakup in the summer of 1984. He and his bandmates have reunited a number of times, most recently in 2008.

Dietro le quinte, mentre Depp si esibiva con i Black Keys, i protagonisti di ”Prometheus”,Charlize Theron e Michael Fassbender ballavano e lo guardano dal monitor assieme l’assistente di Johnny, Robin Baum.
Il cast di “Teen Wolf” invece ha commentato che avrebbero voluto essere nel backstage, in vista dell’esibizione musicale, piuttosto che lì seduti ai loro posti.
E Depp, probabilmente avrebbe voluto suonare a tempo pieno. Come ha detto dopo lo spettacolo, quando più persone gli hanno suggerito di abbandonare la recitazione e dedicarsi a pieno alla musica. Lui ha risposto: “Ho bisogno di una band! Io non sono una band!”.
Ma il frontman degli Aerosmith Steven Tyler sembrava non preoccuparsi, dicendo a Depp e ai Keys, “Una bomba!”

6 – Johnny Depp Wants a Band
Backstage, while Depp was shredding with the Black Keys, “Prometheus” stars Charlize Theron and Michael Fassbender were boogying their butts off. The cast of “Teen Wolf” was saying that they had to be backstage, and in full view of the musical madness, rather than in their seats. And Depp, he was probably wishing he could do this full-time. As he said after the performance, when multiple people suggested he ditch acting and fully embrace music, he said, “I need a band! I don’t have a band!” Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler didn’t seem to care, telling Depp and the Keys, “You the bomb!”
