Armie Hammer says: 'The Lone Ranger is an "adventure movie" and a "comedy between friends." I'm sorry, but no werewolves. '
Armie Hammer has just finished his first week on the set of "The Lone Ranger," in which he plays the protagonist. After playing the Winklevoss twins in "The Social Network, the lover of Leonardo DiCaprio in" J. Edgar "and now a prince charming, Hammer said that now is being realized by interpreting the legendary masked man, a role he calls "incredible."
"I feel like a child playing cowboys, like when I was six." Said Hammer in "The Playlist" while doing a press conference for "Mirror Mirror." "If the next seven months will be like this week, I'm the luckiest actor in the whole world."
Hammer must thank "Mirror Mirror" for the capacity cowboy is using in "The Lone Ranger", given that he spent months learning how to ride a horse for the previous films and has used the same horse in both projects. "In fact, we are using the same horses," he said.
Even if you are playing the lead role in this great project, Hammer said he did not feel the weight on his shoulders, knowing who plays Tonto. "Let's be honest, when Johnny Depp arrives everyone is excited to see him," he said. "There is no doubt, and it is a lot of pressure-relief."
Despite the big budget, which initially was $ 250 million and that Disney has been reduced to about $ 35 million to restart production, Hammer said that the mood on the set is like that of an Indian movie. "I realized after lunch on the first day," he said. "We are a group of guys in a room. It does not seem a great movie. It looks like a movie like others, a small film, we are all partakers of the project, and we are happy with what is happening. This is the smallest great movie. "
Hammer also was not surprised with the problems of pre-production last summer, when the budget has been reconfigured.
"I always had the feeling that Disney would close the project, with this super trading to lower the budget," he said. "That's how I've seen it all, as if they were playing baseball. And so we brought it back until they said "go ahead." Was he worried about not being able to see the green light? "It 's so great, too exciting a great opportunity to close," he said. "And so fun to see Johnny do his thing."
Subsequently, Hammer said that there will be no werewolves or supernatural elements unlike the rumors circulated.
He concludes: "Most of all, it is a great adventure and a comedy among friends, focused on the relationship between Tonto and the Lone Ranger and the way they help themselves."
