La Disney sta riunendo un cast d’eccezione per Into the Woods, l’adattamento cinematografico dell’omonimo musical di Broadway che si preannuncia uno dei progetti più interessanti del prossimo anno. A dirigere la pellicola ci sarà Rob Marshall,che aveva già fatto cantare grandi star come Catherine Zeta-Jones, Richard Gere e Renée Zellweger in Chicago (2002). Confermate le indiscrezioni che volevano la presenza di Johnny Depp, che sembra averci preso gusto dopo Sweeney Todd – Il diabolico barbiere di Fleet Street, e Meryl Streep, di cui abbiamo ammirato le doti canore in Mamma mia!. SecondoVariety, il già interessante cast si potrebbe arricchire con il coinvolgimento di Emily Blunt: l’attrice sarebbe infatti in trattative per ricoprire il ruolo femminile principale mentre quello maschile è affidato all’attore di Broadway James Corden. Ma Emily Blunt non sarebbe l’unica new entry: potrebbero unirsi anche Chris Pine e Jake Gyllenhaal, in una inaspettata versione canora, nei panni dei principi azzurri rispettivamente di Cenerentola e Raperonzolo. Inoltre, secondo quanto rivelato da The Wrap, anche Christine Baranski, la Diane Lockhart della serie TV The Good Wife, sarebbe in trattative per aggregarsi al cast.
Basato sul musical di Stephen Sondheim andato in scena per la prima volta 25 anni fa, Into the Woods narra l’avventurosa storia di un fornaio e sua moglie che intraprendono un viaggio pieno di pericoli e strani incontri per sconfiggere la strega, interpretata da Meryl Streep, che li ha maledetti. Lungo la strada incappano in alcuni personaggi delle fiabe che li aiuteranno, da Cenerentola a Cappuccetto Rosso, passando per Raperonzolo e Jack e il fagiolo magico. L’inizio della riprese del film è previsto in autunno.

“The Good Wife” star Christine Baranski is in talks to join the starry ensemble of Disney’s adaptation of the Broadway musical “Into the Woods,” TheWrap has learned.
Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp have closed deals, while Emily Blunt is in final negotiations for the female lead opposite James Corden.
Rob Marshall, who is renowned for his prowess with musicals, is directing the darkly comic mash-up of classic fairy tales.
Story follows the Baker (Corden) and his wife (Blunt) as they venture into the woods to confront the witch (Streep) responsible for putting a family curse on the childless couple.
Baranski participated in a reading of the script back in October where she played Cinderella’s mean-spirited and demanding stepmother.
As with Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal, who are circling the princely roles of Cinderella and Rapunzel’s self-absorbed love interests, Baranski has not received an offer yet, though an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap she’s in talks to join the cast.
Marshall is directing the film from a script by James Lapine, based on his book for the 1986 musical. Stephen Sondheim wrote the Tony-winning original score, and Marshall’s longtime collaborator David Krane is working on musical arrangements for the film. John DeLuca is producing the movie, which is expected to start production in the fall.
Baranski, who hasn’t been seen on the big screen since 2010′s “The Bounty Hunter,” previously worked with Marshall on “Chicago,” the Oscar-winning musical in which she played Mary Sunshine. The Emmy-winning actress also co-starred alongside Streep in the Universal musical “Mamma Mia!” She’s represented by UTA and Viking Entertainment.

Big day on the Croisette forJoel Edgerton. The Australian actor just took the bows for the Cannes opening night film The Great Gatsby, and I’ve learned that he’s just closed a deal to star alongside Johnny Depp in the Cross Creek crime thriller Black Mass, which Barry Levinson is directing. The picture is a co-production between Cross Creek and Nigel Sinclair and Guy East’s Exclusive Media, with the two entities co-financing and Universal Pictures releasing in the U.S. through Cross Creek’s distribution deal with the studio.
Whitey Bulger rose to the top of the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted List when he disappeared for a decade before he could be put behind bars. Many felt he could never have gotten that far without the help ofJohn Connolly, an FBI agent and childhood pal of Bulger and his brother. Connolly was tasked with bringing down the Italian mob, and he was aided by Bulger, who burnished his own position as Boston crime kingpin by getting rid of the competition for his Winter Hill gang. Edgerton will play Connolly, who was lauded for his work before things went south for him. He was eventually convicted of racketeering and obstruction of justice for aiding Bulger, who is currently in a Massachusetts state prison for second-degree murder. Edgerton gets a meaty role in a story about a law enforcement officer with conflicted loyalties.

Da quel che si legge su The Hollywood Reporter Chris Pine e Jake Gyllenhaal sarebbero in trattative per entrare nel cast del nuovo musical diretto da Rob Marshall, autore esperto del genere avendo già firmato le regie di Chicago e Nine, aggiungendosi quindi ad altri due nomi importanti e confermati qualche settimana fa: Johnny Depp e Meryl Streep Into the Woods é tratto dall’omonimo spettacolo di Broadway: un racconto fiabesco che segue le avventure di un fornaio e sua moglie che vogliono avere un bambino a tutti costi e dove fanno incursione anche personaggi famosi delle favole come Cenerentola, Raperonzolo e Cappuccetto Rosso. Secondo i rumor, Gyllenhaal e Pine dovrebbero vestire i panni die due principi (quelli di Cenerentola e Rapunzel) mentre ricordiamo che Depp sarà (a quanto pare) un lupo affamato e molto sexy.
