West of Memphis at BFI London Film Festival

ITA: Se prima avevamo qualche dubbio, ora la partecipazione di Johnny al London Film festival è quasi certa! Non ci sono ancora notizie ufficiali, ma il calendario del Festival parla chiaro! Come precedentemente annunciato Il 12 ottobre sarà presentato For No Good Reason, documentario che parla della vita di Ralph Steadman in cui hanno partecipato molte star, tra cui il nostro Johnny Depp. Ora, sempre dal programma del London Film Festival, ci giunge la news che anche “West of Memphis” la storia dei tre ragazzi accusati ingiustamente di omicidio, approderà al BFI il 13 ottobre! Johnny Depp è stato uno di quelli che ha combattuto moltissimo per questa causa, tant’è che ha deciso di promuovere il documentario persino al Toronto Film Festival.

Siamo quasi certi che il nostro Johnny presenzierà al Festival, manca solo l’ufficializzazione. Ma stando alle parole del regista di For No Good Reason, non abbiamo molti dubbi in proposito:

“quest’anno lo abbiamo dedicato alla preparazione di questo evento, infatti questo sarà l’unico Festival a cui parteciperemo e ci saranno tutte le persone coinvolte che faranno apparizioni, conferenze stampa e questo tipo di cose …”

Ora non sappiamo con certezza in che modo sarà presente, I vari screening per vedere i documentari sono aperti al pubblico, però pensiamo che possa partecipare a interviste, e cose di questo tipo.
Aspettiamo comunque che vengano annunciati i vari ospiti presenti, prima di dare l’ufficializzazione.

“Our last year has been spent preparing for this event and this to me is the one and only festival that we’ll get everybody involved in as far as appearances and press and that kind of stuff.”

One of the falsely accused, Damien Echols, is a producer of this film, along with campaigner Lorri Davis (his wife), and filmmakers Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh. This unexpected collaboration accounts not only for the unswerving focus of the film, but also the unprecedented access which enables Berg to reveal new material about the well documented case and to convincingly posit the most likely culprit.
